This is not my spaceship. I’m not sure how I got here. I woke up with a bruise on my forehead, And all my rations gone I’ve not yet met the captain, Nor seen any crew in the corridors. I’ve been wandering here for hours And fear something’s terribly wrong. I tried interfacing with the ship’s computer, But my cranial port is failing. The antigravity module’s down, And my limbs are frantically flailing. I’m not sure how much air is left, And the fuel tanks might be dry. So I find myself here drifting - A lone soul in the sky. So much mystery, Confounded wondering. There’s a glowing light - Not quite comforting. It’s almost peaceful here, But I’m so alone. That pale blue dot outside - Will I ever see my home? Quite fuzzy still, my head is. To myself, I speak in anastrophes. No help in the medical bay, I found. No, there’s not a soul around. Mysterious creaks from the bulkhead. Perhaps there’s been some catastrophe. What was that in the corner of my eye? Did I hear a snarling sound? Okay, it’s clear I’m not alone, But that creature’s not my friend. In the cargo hold, I can hide a while. Oh god, is this the end? I’m not sure how much air is left, And the fuel tanks might be dry. So I find myself here drifting - A lone soul in the sky. So much mystery, Confounded wondering. There’s a glowing light - Not quite comforting. It’s almost peaceful here, But I’m so alone. That pale blue dot outside - Will I ever see my home?

So 02:24
We saw each other from afar, And thought we’d take a chance. Both burned before but still We longed for passionate romance. Our hearts as one, we melted into Years of long embrace. But now I see the pain is melting Joy right off your face. So, if you’ve ever cared for me, If our love was true, Then darling, open up your heart, And hear my words to you. If you search inside yourself, There’s one thing left to know - Our joy’s been gone for far too long. You must now let me go. Our days were filled with poetry. Our nights were filled with song. The kinds that steal away your breath, And blur your right from wrong. But as the fire dwindled And the night passed into day, Our song became a hollow note, And the ember died away. So, if you’ve ever cared for me, If our love was true, Then darling, open up your heart, And hear my words to you. If you search inside yourself, There’s one thing left to know - Our joy’s been gone for far too long. You must now let me go.

The Gem 03:05
Back on your back with a boot on your throat. You gaze at a tattered pin striped coat. Your dreams borne back east from your safe little home, Have spawned a dark demon from profession’s first tome. The bar reeks of sorrow, and the whiskey’s been tapped. A trick left unturned is a lock on your trap. The bruises ache less with the passing of time. A gem so well-tarnished steals all your shine. The gold has been rushed and you’re left bare to rest For a few fleeting moments by the gun from your breast. But the door will fly open, the blows soon alight - Less gentle than ones that you proffered last night. There’s no wagon to take you any further from here. Your wages don’t make you the price of stale beer. You were tricked by the advert, “Come, entertain!” But the gem took your voice and rewrote your refrain. There’s no family to send for, no friends in this place, Save the other poor girls who all share your face. So you’re left with one chance that a life of grief gave - With no peace in this dance, perhaps some in the grave. You came out to sing and carve out a life, Like so many others lured in by the knife Whose blade remained hidden till you closed the gate. A gem so well-tarnished strips shine from your fate.

She was chasing after light - a particle of fright. She's the kind of wave that waves goodbye just as she says hello. In her search for reverie, she discovered misery Seemed a friend until she sank into the chasm down below. She would search for things that bring her peace and love. But the joy she found was never quite enough. Her wings were lost and frosted to the core. And her poetry was written, nevermore. He was slowing down his time by focusing his mind. Meditation promised patience and a healing for the soul. But his thoughts became a blur, and his will was soon deterred. When your heart is broken, tokens of the world will take their toll. He would search for things that bring him love and light. But the days were gray and blackened were the nights. The drudgery of life became a bore. And his poetry was written, nevermore. The world has since moved on. There’s no time for sad songs. There are things to do and time to waste So pace your seconds right. Some live and some will die. Why should we think to cry? Inaction and distraction bring sedation to our lives. Some will search for things that bring the world some joy. But we’re all just busy playing with our toys. Put down the pen and end this little chore. For our poetry is written, nevermore.

DisAppoint 02:30
Oh, my joy, my pet, my lovely one - The doctors assure me my work here is almost done. They’ve loosened my restraints. They’ve given me my paints. I’m drawing us the beautiful world in which I know we should live. It’s only your heart you must give to me. So don’t disappoint me again. Yes, I’ve seen you go inside with her. But that doesn’t mean our love will be deterred. I know you have needs. But soon she will see - Eternal, are we, and that she is just in the way. I promise you a better day ... quite soon. She won’t disappoint me again. Oh, fresh air! I can finally breathe again! I have my walking papers and a full prescription. There won’t be any stress. I have your new address. I’m on my way to see you and nothing will stand in my way. It’s time to come out and play, my love. So don’t disappoint me again. You won’t disappoint me again.

Spore 03:48
You may crinkle a leaf or a twig underfoot, As you wander the forest alone. And you sprinkle some seeds in this wondrous wood, But know this is my ancient home. And your footprints are covered as soon as they fall With the passing of time from my clock. For your story is brief, but I’ll bring you relief As I alter your world and your thoughts. Look at me, you can see, on the floor, I’m a spore. And my tendrils have spawned in the earth. A network I weave you can barely perceive. Yet the trees sing the song of my birth. And I may hypnotize you, or might tantalize through My blood flowing in your veins. With your eyes fully open, your soul won’t get broken. But I promise you won’t be the same. Your mind is a pattern that simply evolved, And delayed your conclusion a while. It lets you see danger, but I’d place a wager - It hasn’t helped foster your smile. There are colors to see and chords that won’t ring With your thoughts tucked away in a box. Come follow the rabbit as you truly inhabit Enigmas from this pale blue rock.

The End 03:25
We see dead stars still shine their light, To give us peace through caustic night. These shells decay and we take flight. Eternal sky, our souls requite. I'm not ready for the end. The lights come up, but eyes grow dim. I'm not ready for the end. But I'm not ready to begin. Wizened creatures, shriveled skin. Binary stars lose their twin. Mortality, life's greatest sin. Yet fossils foster life again. Brief your sojourn, short your song. Melodies won't linger long. Chords unwrapped in screaming sighs. But love, keep breathing through our sky.
